The Allocation Map dialog gives a visualization of the used space throughout the PST file.

The upper left pixel of the dialog is byte zero of the file. The lower right is the EOF byte. Each pixel represents a certain number of bytes (depending on the size of the file). Each pixels color is a gradient between fully black and fully white, depending on how much space is allocated in the file to the range represented by that pixel.
